[attr="class","icon"] The day was just beautiful: little to no humidity, cool breeze, warm sun, a scattering of puffy white clouds... In short, it was an absolutely perfect spring day. And so it was that Lucas had taken himself, and his violin, up to the school roof after the day's classes had ended. He could have gone to one of the indoor music rooms to play; they did have pitch perfect acoustics after all; but it was too lovely a day to waste inside. And besides, his playing was god enough at this point that even if people overheard snatches of music it wouldn't be an earsore. Violin out and tuned, Lucas set it down for a second to take a deep breath and tug his binder into a more comfortable position around his chest. Now that he didn't feel so constricted, he reclaimed his violin and rested it in the crook of his chin and shoulder just so. His breath was measured and even, his foot tapping an unobtrusive rhythm to get him started. Then he began to play. It wasn't the sort of instrumental music most expected from a violinist. It was hard-edged and powerful, at home more in a rock concert than a orchestra. But Lucas made it work. He played to both his and the instrument's strengths, pulling forth a melody that was as fluid as water but just about as sedate as white water rapids. But even absorbed in the rhythm and melody as he was he stopped on a dime, fingers instantly stilling the strings when he heard the door to roof open. It wasn't a loud noise and people had remarked more than once in the past that he seemed awfully hyperaware for a spoiled rich kid. He turned to see who had joined him and nearly dropped his violin and bow. The blonde who had just stepped through the door was achingly familiar but equally a stranger. She looked, Lucas thought, a great deal like his twin sister might and the thought caused a painful squeezing sensation in his chest. He wasn't fully aware of the fact that her name escaped his lips, little more than a breath given the semblance of a shape: "Rayne" | [attr="class","icon"] THE REAL QUESTION TO BE ASKED: WHERE HAVE I BEEN?
